The late Induben must have been one helluva cook or a great woman entrepreneur her name lives on in a number of outlets that sell khakhras. This shop claims to be owned by the true descendants of Induben and stocks about fifty different items including various takes on the khakhra. For the uninitiated, khakhras are crisp rotis that are for Gujaratis what sliced bread is for a European. This shop is a testimony to the wanderlust of the Gujaratis, but with dietary limitation posed by vegetarianism, and sometimes even restrictions on eating potatoes, onion, garlic, etc, which has resulted in a huge market in the state for food items that keep and travel well. The team here is a fund of information on what you can carry with you on your travels khakras, bhakris, theplas and dhebras which are versatile enough to serve as rotis when chapati is not available or to have as a quick bite with pickles and relishes. They have a range of khakras available off-the-shelf but the others may have to be ordered. Lilva Kachori, Haandvo, Patra and Khaman are also part of their stock-in-trade.

I was not a fan of Gurajati snacks until I tasted the authentic khakhras, theplas and bhakris of Induben Khakhrawala. This shop is really good with its food and I must say they are actually popularizing the Gujarati snacks among the non Gujaratis living in the city. Induben Khakhrawala has variety and its food is not to be missed ever if you happen to be in the city.
