Dasaprakash is a South Indian chain that has spread its wings overseas as well. A few South Indian touches that you will find here are coconut-shaped door knobs, Tanjore-style paintings, and Kathakali murals and masks, among others. The moderately formal reception hall of their restaurant in Ahmedabad is like a Hall of Fame, with photographs of prime ministers Morarji Desai and Indira Gandhi, president Dr Radhakrishna Menon, and even Queen Elizabeth's visit to Dasaprakash properties, which also count Jawaharlal Nehru, presidents like VV Giri, maharajas of Mysore and Travancore, foreign guests like Jackie Kennedy-Onasis, among their guests. Where food is concerned, try their specialities like Tomato Rasam, Guliappa Rice Balls, a variety of Rawa or Rice Dosas and upmas. You could also check out their authentic South Indian Thalis in the Rs150-200 and mini-meal combos. You must try their South Indian sweets and filter coffee. The prices are a bit higher than you would pay at other South Indian restaurants but it's definitely worth it - you get to sample different dishes from the southern states that are not usually available in Ahmedabad. Skip the North Indian dishes on their menu.

In Ahmadabad, Dasaprakash is my favorite place for eating south Indian delicacies. My parents also love the food they serve here. There Rawa Dosas are awesome and Guliappa Rice Balls are one of the best dishes on the menu. The food is too good here and the ambience has also been created to compliment the south Indian food menu. The coconut shaped doorknobs are the first thing to be noticed and overall Dasaprakash has brought the south Indian atmosphere to Ahmadabad.

Dasaprakash is a nice South Indian chain of restaurant that has coconut-shaped doorknobs and Kathakali masks all over the place. This place is perfect with its Dosas, Tomato Rasam, Guliappa Rice Balls and other such traditional South Indian dishes. Personally, I love the way food is served at Dasaprakash.
