Samarkand was one of the first standalone restaurants in Bangalore to serve North West Frontier flavours in great style. Rugged flag stone interiors and staff dressed in sherwanis and turbans add to the Afghani look. So popular is the fare here that the menu has not changed since its inception. Super-rich North Indian fare and Kebabs, such as the Galouti, are consis-tently good and so is the Dal Afghani with oodles of cream and butter. The Dum Biryani, even if high on grease, is hugely popular. For dessert, there's Baklava and other rich choices.

I came here after hearing good things about their North West Frontier cuisine. The moment a stepped in I saw sherwnis and turban clad staff gave me a warm welcome and it was a delightful thing to see in this city. I eat Dal Afghani with some chappatis and tried the kebabs that were fabulous.
I have seriously liked this place and do not mind coming here more than often.
