Khayaal, attached to the mid-budget Chancery Hotel on Lavelle Road, claims its menu is Awadhi and Lucknowi. But save for the occasional live ghazal performance, it's really just another North Indian restaurant serving the staples like Dal Makhni and Paneer Pasanda. Located in the central business district, the lunch buffet attracts the office crowd and the kitty party set. Decor-wise, it's a rather stuffy space and a throwback to the '80s idea of restaurant design. Khayaal, then, won't have you waxing lyrical, but you may try the buffet for its affordability.

Established inside a hotel Khayaal’s Awadhi and Lucknavi food is pretty popular among my family members and in fact every time we plan an outing we end up coming for a meal here. Shorba, Gosht Dum Biryani, Paneer Pasanda is what I like to eat at Khayaal.

Visiting Khayaal was one of the excellent experiences. I visit the place with my friends last evening and had amazing Awadhi and North Indian delicacies. We had our dinner without counting calories and must say it was all superb. We ordered different dishes for our platters. Dal Makhni and Paneer Pasanda were our dishes for the day. I must point on the affordable price and beautifully decorated ambiance. Khayaal showcases the ambiance of 80’s.
