As you walk down the narrow street, the tantalizing aromas of kebabs and tandoor inexorably draw you towards this basement eatery. Daawat is as asli North Indian fare as you can get at surprisingly affordable prices this side of the Vindhyas. The Kalmi Kebabs are superb and the Dal Makhni, garnished with slivers of cottage cheese, is finger-lickingly good; so is the Palak Paneer. Do try their Biriyanis. The other chicken and mutton dishes are above average, and if not entirely authentic, make the cut taste-wise. Anyway, at those honest-to-goodness prices, we guess the chefs are entitled to take a few creative liberties. If kebabs and biryanis are what you're craving for, your search ends here.
