Mash has been pleasing young and old alike for many years now, with their beach front cafe in Besant Nagar being one of the few, non hotel eateries, to serve a glorious breakfast for a reasonable cost. The restaurant on Haddows Road in Nungambakkam, keeps the same easy going feel, just on a grander scale. The atmosphere is kept casual and cheerful with minimalistic decor inspired by Picasso, and artwork that will leave you curious as to who the artist was. The orange colour scheme lends a warmth to the place as does the happy music that lifts the mood. The staff is courteous and serves with a smile. To add to the main dining area the upstairs has a wonderful balcony seating. Originally a house built in the 1960's, the upstairs also serves as a banquet or a conference room or a space that could be used for a private gathering. Amongst the variety of soups on offer, the Seafood Soup is a subtle blend of meat and herb in a rich creamy broth. A perfect blend of both flavours. The BBQ sausages are a must for any BBQ lover. Pepper Sausages are stir fried in a beautiful home made BBQ sauce that just tantalizes the taste buds. If your looking for a tender, juicy hunk of meat to dig into, then Mash the Grill House is the place to go. The Cordon Bleu Pork Chops are to die for as well as their spare ribs. Both come with a side of braised veggies and a bed of Mexican Rice just in case the meat doesnt suffice. Nothing more must be said about this dish, the pork is a must. Their portions are for the real foodie so go prepared to indulge. Although Mash is a meat eaters paradise, they cater to all who walk through their doors. Apart from their steaks, that are always good, their Dynamite Chicken Wings and Fried Calamari are excellent. The Grilled Gambaroni and Basa fish are also recommended. Mash is attempting to cater to everyone's tastes and choices and thus can leave you a little spoilt for choice. Do not be dissuaded from venturing into unexplored territory, Mash will not disappoint as their motto says, Live to eat.
