This 55-year-old restaurant is known for its Spartan style. The first branch was started in 1954 in Royapettah. Ponnusamy whose USP is quick leave service doesn't disappoint. Their lighting quick service coupled with the delicious food keeps a smile on your face. This place is a non vegetarians delight and the foodie in you will have a gala time as there is a variety of unique items on the menu such as Rabbit Roast, Brain Fry, Liver Fry, Sura Puttu (lightly spiced flaked shark), and Kadai Roast. Their regular chettinad items such as Chicken Pepper Fry (boneless), Crab Masala and Mutton Kola(ground mutton balls) also do not disappoint especially when coupled with the excellent biryani (both mutton and chicken). They have recently opened new outlets at Express Avenue and Saidapet. All in all, a sumptuous feast of Chettinadu cuisine is guaranteed.

My mouths watering just thinking of my experience at this charming old restaurants that's been serving delicacies for donkey's years!!:)
Thinking about the restaurant brings back memories of a decade ago when my mum used to take me after i win/lose a basketball match to celebrate or cheer me up:)
So finally decided to go yesterday for a meal with my parents and my brother.
Enter the restaurant to that amazing smell of god knows what!
The waiter is ready to take the order before u know it.
For all those of you who really enjoy your meat,rabbit masala/roast is a must have.We order kerala parotta,rabbit roast,dosa,mutton biriyani,nethili fry and some chicken masala south indian style.
The food came in about 15 minutes piping hot.The rabbit roast was a winner as usual,kerala parotta was small but soft as hell.The biriyani was meaty with lots of mutton.The chicken masala also was spicy and pretty nice.
The only let down was probably the nethili(small fish) which did not seem very fresh.We also had a crab lollipop, but was also a let down.
Does not make a hole in your wallet for sure.Don't waste time,give it a shot guys. Just be careful on what you order.
Meals are also a delight!
Verdict:
If you know what to order this place is 5 star material.
Based on my experience and the nethili and crab lollipop being a let down i would give this a 3 and a half star rating and say it was good:)
Favorite Dishes / Drinks: kerala parotta and rabbit roast!

Ponnusamy treats its customers with best possible service with a smile. Your order is on your table within a few minute of ordering and the waiters actually mentions how much time one has to wait for his/her order to arrive.
On the menu Brain Fry, Kadai Roast, Rabbit Roast, Liver Fry are lip smacking and in chettinad cuisine menu Crab Masala, Chicken Pepper Fry and Mutton Kola simply amazing. Ponnusamy is creating magic with non veg delicacies.
