Abhinandan is more like a busy canteen at lunchtime than a restaurant. But for those who know, Ashoka Hotel means good wholesome food at very reasonable prices. Ever since the residential style hotel started in 1974, they have been well known for their prompt service and hospitality. This extends to the catering facilities at their restaurant that specialises in South Indian cuisines. However, they have made a few concessions for their North Indian guests with their Bombay Thali that serves Tomato Soup, chappaties, puris and Kesari. Those who go there often will swear by their Andhra Thali which includes the best Gonghura Chutney and spicy Andhra pickles as against their milder counterparts in the Tamil Nadu Thali. The bearers are experts in serving the items onto your Thalis and are generous with the rice, hot ghee, pappads and extra curd. It was earlier customary to end the meal with a small finger banana and rolled parcel of betel leaf, though in keeping up with the times, they offer you a choice of ice-creams from their open-air chaat and ice cream parlour next door.

I went Abhinandan some days back with my family. We wanted to have some good cuisine. We had Tamil Nadu Thali. It had rice, hot ghee, pappad and curd along with few other things. The food was succulent and yummy. I enjoyed eating there and it was all fun too. Trying new things is like my hobby and so I loved the food here. Service was the absolute non-stop. Staffs were serving with a warm smile on the face. They were involved in their work and doing with passion. Overall, had a great time.
