Shanghai Club, the Chola's ever-popular Chinese-style restaurant re-invents itself every couple of years, yet remains the same. The coffee-shoppe menu has everything with the likes of sandwiches, pizzas, pastas and soups. The choices range from North Indian, Awadh-style biryanis to dosas fried on a tawa and pastas tossed in a pan with all the extras on request from bowls in front of the pasta master. It doubles up as a 24-hour coffee shop where you can enjoy a steaming cup of Earl Grey, light green tea or a fresh smoothie. The Chicken Grilled Sandwich is a delight; the Chilli Cheese Sandwich is not as good. Chola Snack Platter, with typical South Indian short eats, is another favourite here. There's an international-style buffet lunch, the best of the global village at lunchtime. Thai cuisine happens to be the current rage with Thai Tom Yam Soup triumphing over the classic Chicken Corn Soup. They still do Chinese food at dinner. The piece de resistance is, however, the dessert section - truly magnificent, with choices like the triple-layered Chocolate Mousse, Chinese-style Toffee Apples and the rich Indian sweets. Breakfast would be any European food-lover's delight, with everything from strudels, waffles and rolls on offer.

This place is my place for Awadhi style Biryani and scrumptious breakfast in the morning. The restaurant is old and with time and again it has been able to reinvent and set a mark for other establishment. Seeing this place always makes me feel hungry for more and more food.
The Thai food of this place is equally tasteful and in other words there are more than a few reasons to visit this restaurant.

Cafe Mercara is an excellent place to be at with your friends. I went there few days back to have some delicious delicacies and spend some good time with my friends. I had Chicken Grilled Sandwich and Thai Tom Yam Soup. The food was awesome and so was the décor. Most commendable was the service of this place. Waiters were prompt and amicable. I must say Cafe Mercara is just one place that has everything on place.
