Screaming for attention, the Copper Chimney Alwarpet's interiors are highly neglected, with faded and frayed upholstery, but the food is as divine as it always was. A gourmet's delight, indeed. Warning: you've got to stop counting calories the moment you enter, for this is one place where the ghee flows, along with malai and makkhan. Their signature dishes are perennial so no guessing or asking will really be involved, as this is one crowded joint. However, a few recommendations are in order. Ghinga Nisla and Machehi Tikka, are both fresh succulent and grilled to perfection. The Paneer Tikka is always soft and glazed golden in the tandoor. Vegetarians must have the Tandoori Gobi — flowerlets of cauliflower marinated in yoghurt spiced with herbs and barbequed. The Palak Paneer is melt in mouth and the gravy of pureed spinach with a hint of dry fenugreek reminds of home style and wholesome fare. The Fish Begum Bahar — fillets of fish in a rich cashew cream sauce is a blend of Indian and Western- very mild and light and delicious. The Dal Maharaja or Kali Dal is always exceptional and goes fabulously with Tandoori Roti and the Mutton Dum Biryani is excellent. The speciality of the house Muzzafar is a must try. It is a rich, thick, rabdi, tapped with golden roasted vermicelli. A crunchy creamy Lucknow sensation.

For me dining at Copper Chimney is always a great idea. I mean I love their menu that has so many delicious dishes to hog on. The moment Mutton Dum Biryani arrives on the table the tempting aroma fills the senses. Not to forget their Tikkas and Muzzafar absolute scrumptious dishes of Copper Chimney.

Food is quite okayish here, but the service is good. It quite makes up for the taste of food. Ambience is also good, the earthy interior gives a cool feel.
