One of the oldest and best-known bakeries in the city, Cakes and Bakes has managed to retain its clientele, who do so primarily out of habit. Situated in the heart of the bustling Nungambakkam High Road, you'll find a crowd comprising people of all age groups. Their Black Forest Cake is pretty popular and is still one of the best you'll find in the city. They have a range of pastries, biscuits, cookies, sandwiches, burgers and pizzas that are quite drool-worthy. But in some case reality hits, and hits hard. The Classic Cheese Sandwich is so full of onions that you'll have a tough time locating the cheese in it. The burgers fare a little better, but you can't help but wonder if they just use a cutlet. The Vegetarian Cutlet, however, makes the cut. Pizzas here have that homemade feel to them and are perfectly Indianised. The ice-teas are refreshing. On the whole, it's a nice place, but could have been so much better. There was a time it was.

from cheese sandwich to burgers and cutlets to cakes, the bakery serves everything fresh...taste is little missing in the food but things they offer are all really fresh n hygienic....
