Now known as Dindigul Thalappakatti, this place is like an oasis in the desert for those who want good food at pocket friendly prices. Located near one of the city’s most famous landmarks, it captures the essence of South Tamil Nadu in every sense: décor, flavour and service. Their biryani has been an instant crowd puller from the time it has opened. The restaurant’s other specials are Thalai Curry and Kodal Curry. They also have a wide variety of chicken preparations, including the Vatlakunda Chicken and Thalappakatti Fried Chicken, which rate among the best. The Dindugal Thalappakatti Biryani is truely delicious. The Brain Fry, Mutton Chukaa and the Aatukaal Soup are worth trying. The South Indian preparations worth trying are Keema Dosa and Wheat Dosa which are mouth-watering. Beverages served are limited. Head to the desserts section only if you have space for it as ice creams are all they have.

We discovered this place back in Chennai which was nearly 2 years back. I only had a few friends who used to have non veg and so we used to always be on the lookout for places with good non veg food. We loved the initial experience at thalapakatti and the biryani and chicken there blew our mind away. We used to frequent that place every now and then and the biriyani quality always remained the same. After a while we moved onto other places. A visit there again is overdue. And before I forget, parking there is quite a problem. If you are unlucky you might have to go far away to park the car. Chicken Pepper fry is my favourite.
