It's a place where real men eat, burp and run. Jugs of hot water, flavoured with jeera, or pitchers of cold buttermilk are the only concession to a decor. Each person helps himself or herself. The secret of Kalpaka is that they have remained faithful to their original menu, Syrian Christian cuisine, that has a distinct home-cooked flavour. The top favourite is still their Beef Fry, hot and peppery with slivers of finely sliced coconut. They do a Vegetarian Thali that is average. You could also try the Karee Meen and Fish Curry. The Fish Fry, including typical Kerala specialities like netheli, tiny golden fingerlings, the delicate ladyfish and the more robust seer fish, and the chicken and beef side dishes that are top on the list.

At Kalpaka restaurant the food option is somewhat very different than the usual and I enjoy eating the Syrian Christian cuisine here. Fish Curry, Netheli are dishes not to be missed at all. This restaurant has a very raw and rugged outlook but definitely the menu is its specialty.
