Sarvana Bhavan is synonoumous to Vegetarian South Indian food not only in the country but across the globe now. When it comes to great taste and popularity, Saravana Bhavan has it pat down to a formula and you'll be lucky if you get a place to sit during lunch hour. The food is exceptionally good and is great VFM. And the hotel doesn't shy away from mentioning in their menu that all dishes are cooked in ghee. Their signature dish is their superbly turned out Masala Dosas and of course their almost red Kesari Bhath. You can also go for their Kaima Idli, Mixed Parota. There are Saravana Bhavan's all over the world, but if you're in Chennai and you haven't eaten here, you surely have missed a taste of what good food in these parts can be. There are numerous branches of Saravana Bhavan, across the length and breadth of the city, and finding one nearby won't be a task at all.www.saravanabhavan.com

I do not agree with the rating of Very Good ++.
I would go for a Good +.
Please note there are equally good restaurants in Chennai. For example National Bhavan at Audiappa Naicken Street. Vasantha Bhavan in Annanagar near Roundtana, Balaji Bhavan opposite Chintamani, yet another in Audiappa Naicken Street known as Parvathi Lunch Home and Prakash Bhavan in NSC Bose Road. I give a equal rating of Good + to all these restaurants as well. Only difference is number of servers, their dress and absolute neatness displayed by Saravana, which should not charge the customer far more than what is required. May be a 10 to 20% slash in prices would put Saravana to Good+++ and Very Godd +. Else it is the same. For that matter the Rayars in Avadi is also good both in terms of Breakfast items and Lunch as well.
I request the regulars at Saravana not to mistake me for my comments, these are my personal views and comments. I am 55+ and like to have Idli / Dosa / Vada /Pongal for my breakfast and have tasted in all the restaruants mentioned in this review during the last 50 years. I am sure a good number would agree with my review.
