Because of its location in The Ashok hotel, it has never received its due. This all-black restaurant had an extensive makeover a couple of years ago. It has a small selection of preparations that you'll find nowhere else but here. Frontier has never received accolades or even recognition, and though its new avatar is as sarkari as ever, it has some refined touches. Chief among these is a hand-bag hanger at each table where ladies can hang their bags and men their coats. Its signature dishes include Pathar Kebab, which really is cooked on a hot stone; Kebab-e-Bannu is a Chicken Tikka enclosed in an omelette wrapping: and Dal Dera Ismail Khan is eaten with Kulachi Naan.
