Just outside the members-only LAP started by Arjun Rampal is a garden that can be accessed both from the inside of LAP as well as by you and me via the car park. There has always been a good deal of confusion as to whether the midnight buffet in near darkness is for LAP members only or for non-members as well. The juicy kebabs and cheese-laden pizzas are the perfect antidote to a night of heavy drinking. The Sundayafternoon- brunch buffet is operational during December and January. Stylish in terms of the guests as well as the table layout, it is a popular venue. Not confined to members at all.

Before starting out for this brunch, we happened to pour over images of the best beach settings in the world for a romantic lunch in a Sunday glossy. And we sighed, 'Ah! If Delhi too had a place that allowed us to experience the French Riviera.’ Soon we reached LAP, only hoping to soak in the winter sun. But it is al fresco set up with maroon canopies and black wooden furniture, smokin' grill counters, posh music and lavish food counters against a luscious green backdrop completely had us smitten. The setting seemed to have answered our morning prayers. Even though the dilapidated exterior of Hotel Samrat remained an eyesore. But our fun did not stop at the props. What ensued was tasteful fare, fine drinks and some great music. We kickstarted our meal with a refreshing interplay of green apples, fresh fennel leaves and olives.As the live percussion got livelier, we settled in for some yum hot pancakes with melted butter and honey. Sweet feat accomplished, it was time for some live action... Succulent chicken tikkas, meaty mutton bites, beefy steaks and juicy prawns were waiting to be devoured and we attacked them pronto with gusto. Finally, after indulging in a glorious steamed chocolate pudding, we decided to leave this lap of luxury with a sweet aftertaste and a lingering longing, to ‘lap’ up once again.
