More than 200 years old, Ghantewala at Chandni Chowk is as much a landmark in Delhi as Chandni Chowk itself. Synonymous with quality, the mithai here is prepared in pure desi ghee and new varieties are constantly added to the endless list of goodies. Highly recommended are Sohan Halwa Papdi, Pista Samosa and Badam Burfi-truly sinful pieces of heaven on earth. Ghantewala claims that it uses the finest ingredients for its mithais, which ensures that everything prepared in the morning is sold out by the evening. Though slightly overpriced, Ghantewala sweets are a must at weddings and festivals. Check out for its seasonal specials like Habshi Halwa in the winter, Gujiya during Holi, Petha in the summer, Imartis in the rains and fruit-shaped Kaju Burfis during Diwali.
