Old-timers are hooked to United Coffee House and they still patronize it. After all, the two-storeyed restaurant has its original decor intact down to the chandeliers and gold-leaf ceilings. It still serves Kona Coffee, rather old-fashioned true, but one that goes well with the image of the place. The best things on the menu are the snacks. Paneer Pakodas are ordered by every old-timer in the restaurant as are Mince Samosas. These go down a treat with their Cold Coffee with Ice Cream, the recipe for which couldn't have changed since the 1960s. Mealtime specialities are Thai Prawn Curry, Sauteed Prawn, and Tomato Fish with Vegetables. United doesn't aspire for modernity at all; neither do its customers. The combination of location, old-world charm, and the sheer range of customers who flock here throughout the day, is an unbeatable one.
