Visiting Delhi’s first fast-food restaurant evokes nostalgic feelings. Even after the chain has changed hands, the management has been careful to stick to the tried and tested formula. The main outlet gives the impression of having been around for years and years, courtesy the high-ceilinged interiors. Those of us who have grown up on Nirula’s Pizzas will note with a sign of relief that the crusts are still cardboard-stiff and the toppings as improbable as ever: Paneer Tikka Pizza and Mutton Sausage Pizza. Burgers and Footlongs are also available in the trademark Nirula’s style. Their Shami Kebab has been on the most popular list for decades. The legendary Nirula’s Hot Chocolate Fudge and Nutty Buddy are a must for chocoholics.
