Hotel Vikram has been for the Russians, by the Russians, of thernRussians ever since its inception, and guess what: not muchhas changed in the intervening decades. It is now a privatelyrnowned hotel but has never managed to shrug off the sarkarirnmiasma that hangs over it. 1440 is a common or garden coffeernshop of yesteryear serving Chinese, Continental, Mughlai,rnthough they may wish to position themselves as arncontemporary restaurant. Indian is the safest option, whetherrnyou have it outside in the not-unpleasant courtyard (funkyrnlights, loud music) or in the large restaurant. The surprise ofrnthe meal was Chettinad Prawns (550), by far and away thernmost expensive thing on the menu. Murgh Lababdar, BurrahrnKebab, Murgh Malai Kebab: fail-safe fare for the most part.rnLook at it this way: in that place, you are unlikely to run intornanyone you know. And it's not as expensive as therncompetition.
