If you have a location that speaks of the centuries gone by like Olive does, with the Qutub Minar towering above, you can’t possibly go wrong. Olive, the trailblazer of alfresco dining in India is nothing short of stunning. Known as much for its gourmet menu as its good looks, it has a wood-fired oven that is used for baking the fresh and hot bread served at your table. Lunch is a short and sweet affair with salads and pizzas. Dinner is far grander. The house special is their Goat’s Cheese Souffle, twice baked with Chilli Caramel Pecan Nuts, balsamic reduction and cheese salsa. A hot favourite is Foie Gras and Confit of Duck Leg with caramelized apples, spicy blood orange reduction. With molecular cooking gaining popularity, one can see traces of it in the Reconstructed Salad Caprese with bocconcini, “new way” tomato, rocket leaves, pesto and olive oil. Delhi doesn’t get too many days in the year when one wants to enjoy the weather outdoors. But when those few and far in between days arrive, this is where you should head.

You can’t keep a good thing down, which is exactly why this Mediterranean-themed eatery with its pebbled courtyard and beautiful location continues to be a favourite with the city’s discerning patrons even with new eateries and bars springing up around it. Transforming from a lazy oasis in the day to a romantic dimly lit spot at night, the open-air wood fire oven adds to the rustic appeal and the lounge music sets the tone here. The bar, now taken over by speakeasy-inspired The Dirty Martini works in sync with Chef Sujan’s kitchen to incorporate fresh ingredients. Since their libations have moved towards a more easygoing, jazz era style, the signatures have followed suit. We love their take on the Vesper Martini with the vermouth and triple sec adding a zing to the otherwise misunderstood drink. Do ask them to make this version with gin and not vodka. Other classics like the Whiskey Sour are also done well their Bubble Berry signature topped with Prosecco is a great drink to sip leisurely. The wine and Champagne menu is interesting and extensive with by-the-glass options aplenty. For bar snacks, you can’t go wrong with their generous Mezze Platter laden with goodies or if you are feeling indulgent, then try the Fried Brie. Of course, no meal at Olive is complete without their thin crust pizza, so order one to go with your cocktails.

Olive Bar & Kitchen is closer to the Qutab Minar than any other good bar in Delhi. This place is tourist paradise. The restaurant is absolutely stunning. Who doesnt like alfresco dining on a pleasant summer evening? In case of forecasted total annihilation of the earth, I would unquestionably go to Olive Bar & Kitchen one last time because it is a dream. From its food to the actual restaurant, it cannot get better than this. On my last day on earth, I would be relieved to know that I left the world with the delectable taste and flavours of Olive Bar & Kitchens Foie Gras on my lips. The restaurant is really romantic and the efficient service adds to the perfection that is this restaurant. A Souffl is what a Chef prepares when he wants to show his culinary skills off. I was really impressed with the chef at Olive for his brilliant Goats Cheese Souffl - an absolute 10/10. We started with the Foie Gras and Duck Leg, the dish had been pan seared to perfection and the caramelized apples only made it taste nicer. The Lasagne was a treat too - the cherry tomatoes, olives and capers were all beautifully seasoned and the vegetables tasted wonderful with Parmesan. A lot of people at the restaurant were picking thin-crust or paper crust pizzas. I went with the flow. My absolute favourite was their Chorizo and Pepperoni Pizza - highly recommended! I asked for my pizza to be prepared without rocket because I just cannot stand its bitter taste in my pizza. They forget I had said that and added rocket to it but it turned out to be surprisingly delicious. I do not regret having my pizza with rocket on it in the least. Then came the Maple Glazed Pecan Pie- the warm toffee sauce and fig and honey ice cream made me close my eyes for a moment to savour this lovey dessert. The Tiramisu too was a very fine version of it. The Chocolate Fondant with Fresh Mango Salsa tasted so delicious that I wanted to order another one. The service was brilliant and though I did have to wait for my desserts for a really long time, when they arrived and I had my first bite, I forgot all about the long wait. Our bill with drinks came to something around Rs. 8000/- for three people.

Olives - When Olives opened in Delhi, it was the most happening place in the town. People use to talk about the food and the place in High circles . It was a place for any kind of celebration and most importantly remains a hot favorite as first Date place for couples because its romantic dcor. As we all know that every place has its own Up's and down's and few years back olives was losing its charm and taste of the food. It's very difficult for a Restaurant to make a comeback but the olive group played a master stroke by introducing Chef SujanSarkar .Sujan has worked with the top Restaurants in Europe. He is a heavy weight champion when it comes to Italian food .Food talks 1-Pumpkin crisp, semi dried tomato, goat cheese, olive dust- Someone once told me that relationship is 40% lust and 60% love. The lust comes from the looks and love comes from the personality of a person. In case of the food lust comprises of the platting and love comprises of the taste. This was served with cucumber and apple juice Taste - It tasted fresh with lot of flavors coming from fresh ingredients without use of any spice. It's like a trailer for a blockbuster movie. 2-Salt baked beetroot, goat cheese mousse, arugula, apricot and orange puree, candied walnut- This dish was spot on with the balance of flavors. The smoothness of goat cheese, citrus of orange puree, sourness of beetroot and walnuts. The plating for dish was proper and colorful. It followed the modern style of non-symmetric plating of the dish .Double baked cheese souffl , artichoke, red pepper jam, rocket, balsamic reduction- Twice baked, Chili caramelized , pecan nuts dressed rocket with balsamic reduction -Souffls are light baked cake which could be both savory or sweet . It was made perfectly and loved the balsamic reduction used as dressing in the dish 3 Roasted tomato and fresh burratta pizza with fresh basil- A foodie friend of mine suggested me to taste the pizza at olive, as it could not be the part of last year half Delhi Pizza marathon the pizza was divine , the crust was perfect as it was thin but not falling off , the sauce was amazing with minimal topping and cheese . Authentic Italian Pizza are not loaded with cheese, that's what Americans do . 4 - Vegetarian mezze platter: falafel, vegetable croquettes, grilled mushroom, borek, Fatayer serve with five dips, three Mediterranean salad and pita. Few weeks back I had the best mezze platter at FEZ in Chanakyapuri and it was on the top of my list of best Mezze platter in Delhi ncr . But in terms of presentation, freshness of the Fatayer , the beetroot hummus , the variety of dips and taste it is now on no 1 place for the best mezze platter in Delhi/Ncr5 - Limoncello sorbet - The palate cleanser was served in style from the lemons with liquor sorbet 6- Pan bread and fresh tomato salsa is served with food to all the customers. Tomato salsa is freshly grinded over the table for a extensive flavor . The bread is amazing accompaniment with the pastas , perfect crunch from the outside and soft from the inside . The way we Punjabies love our bread 7-Handmade fettuccini in zucchini cream sauce, parmesan, zucchini fritters, pine nut - I love it when the restaurants make fresh pastas , it's add lot of texture to the pasta compared to the pre made one . This dish is all about different textures of zucchini. An excellent sauce made from zucchini and to add crunchy texture zucchini fritters are added from the top .8 - Wood oven baked gnocchi, three cheese sauce, broccoli and green peas, garlic crumb - served directly from the wooden oven to the plate. Gnocchi is the most underrated Italian's dish in India. Gnocchi were made perfectly with proper balance of Potatoes and double 00 flowers. One word which comes to my mind after tasting this dish was yyyuuuummmmm9 -Tiramisu , coffee sorbet, biscotti crisp and salted coffee crunch- Sourness of tiramisu was textbook and the cream were complimented each other . Loved the platting of this dish10 - Mille Feullie of mango, mango and mascarpone mousse, fresh mango sorbet and mango crisp - Mango with all the textures in a culinary book was presented in a glass tumbler. you have to crack open the different version of dessert and mix well before eating . This dish has very detailed flavors of mango and is very time consuming process to make it. Drinks Appletini - Infused with the flavors of green apple and taste bright . This is Alan's favorite drink (Two and a Half men)Watermelon martini- This summer I have tried Watermelon martinis at many places in Delhi. But no one comes close to infusing the flavors of watermelon and not deviating from martini 101 Wine I would suggest for your meal at Olives 1. Bonfils mas de la tour for white wine 2. Principesco merlot for red wine

Tips: Get a table reserved before going,Has outdoor seating,Good place for couples,Good place for business meetings,Accepts reservations,Has a dedicated smoking area
