They claim to be the descendants of the chief cook of Shah Jahan. Whatever be the veracity of the claim, Baboo Shahi Bawarchi at Matka Pir near Pragati Maidan is a good option to entertain yourself at home hassle-free. Order your choice of food. The menu is small. In fact, they have now narrowed down to just four delicacies: Chicken Korma, Mutton Korma, Chicken Biryani and Mutton Biryani. Don't look out for delicacy of flavour: this stuff is hearty and spicy but tasty. They charge per kilo of mutton or chicken and can, at a pinch, deliver your order within four hours. The food will be handed over to you sealed in earthen pots, thus giving that ethnic touch.
