Started in 1951 by the grandfather of the present owner, Sham Sweets makes Doda mithai out of wheat gluten, jaggery, pure ghee and bits of coconut. Reportedly made tornstrengthen pahalwans to wrestle with their opponents, it is rich and heavy, and though there's just one other halwai (also based in Gurgaon) who makes it, connoisseurs prefer the product of Sham Sweets. The outlet in Sushant Lok has a tiny halwai section (ignore everything else, and head straight for the Doda) and a huge snacks section where well-priced samosas, pakoras and Chhole Bhature are doled out to hungry shoppers.
