Swagath, owned by the management of Sagar Ratna chain of Udipi eateries, serves the coastal food of Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra, as it is served in the homes of the Saraswat community of that region. While Mumbai is full of Gomantak eateries, Delhi is represented by just one name Swagath. The food is seafood-based, extremely spicy and contains generous quantities of coconut. There are a few sub-heads Green Masala, Butter Pepper Garlic, Koliwada and so forth. Under each is a list of the seafood that the restaurant sells: Pomfret, Crab, Mussels, Prawns, Bombay Duck, Ladyfish, etc. You have to mix and match the style of cooking with the ingredient. There are dry preparations and gravies like Gassi, a coastal curry. The Defence Colony branch serves the best Butter Chicken in the city! Do try the Chicken Ghee Roast, an incendiary preparation. It has to be said that the Janpath Hotel outlet, managed by the owners themselves, is by far the best option of the lot: some of the other branches are franchised out.

Swagath by far has been serving grt sea food but looks like they cant handle rush hour demands...
Evryone looked in a hurry right from taking the order to serving it...
To keep out meal simple and shrt we ordered Shukhe ghost, Malabari Parantha and Malabari Prawns( prawns being my fav)..
Sadly found the Prawns were not properly cooked as they did not soak in the masala..and yes by all means by understanding of Malabari changed... Shukhe Mutton so scrore more than the prawns.
The typical Mangalorean dished failed to meet my expectation..

For all they care, the waiters were all bundled up and watching CommonWealth Games on TV while exchanging repartee and expert opinions among themselves. The Bombil 9Bombay Duck) fry was good. The attendant suggested I take Malabari Parantha & Pomphret in Mangalorean Red Chilly Paste, and I really regret that I followed his words. The Pomphret in Mangalorean Spices was crass, with thin gravy and pomphret whose distinct taste could not be appreciated over the all-powerful lemony-chilly gravy base. But, most of all, the place should be cleaned off its present batch of indifferent waiters.

the place is crowded to say the least, leading to chairs colliding with each other and waiters trying to squeeze in between the tables to move around. For the price they are charging, the food is awful. Bhuna gosht is made in sweet tomato gravy and fish tikka is so bland and tasteless that you have to eat it with spoonfuls of chutney (which is also nothing to speak about). The waiters constantly keep nudging you to order quickly and even to finish off quickly so that the table is vacated. Strange for a place charging almost as much as 2000-2500 for a dinner for 4. Even their veg Sagar Ratna is miles ahead in quality of food.
