Located right opposite Striker – the big daddy of Gurgaon breweries – this newest entrant is attempting to make grand designs on the city's nightscape. Sprawled over two floors with the second being a makeshift balcony-like space, featuring a large stage (much like its neighbour), 2 giant video screens, a spacious bar and 4 Kinect gaming consoles; Manhattan lives up to its American name by doing things big. Everything is tall – from the ceilings to the brewing vats and even the serving glasses. Their mixed clientele of colleagues, young couples, guy’s night out groups and weekend revellers seem to be right at home chugging and challenging each other to rounds of table tennis, beach volleyball and bowling on the gaming screens. That sense of bonhomie is infectious and would make you want to linger on despite the in-house DJ's poor taste in music. rnrnIgnore the playlist and focus on the brews instead. The first brewery in town with their own Stout (unfortunately unavailable the day we visited), their list also includes usual suspects like Wheat, Lager and Hefe along with Hudson Lager and the rare India Pale Ale. The former two were weaker in comparison to other brewpubs, but the Hudson Lager is a refreshingly malty option. Surprisingly, their beverage range includes Japanese sake, sochu and Single Malts too – probably to cater to the large expat community working in Gurgaon. For the non-beery, there are Fusion Cocktails led by an able Demerara Fig Mojito. If you still have room left, bite into gooey, cheesy appetizers like Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms and Chicken Popcorn from a menu leaning heavily towards American staples (read junk food) served up by a very efficient wait staff. Everything is right here... Now if only they could work harder on their brews, I'll gladly see the world through beer goggles every day.
