As a hardcore Fried Chicken fan, the Colonel's recipes have never ceased to amaze me, whether I am sad, happy or in any mood whatsoever. This review comes after I tried out each and every meal in the course of the 6-7 weeks that I have stayed in Noida.
This branch of KFC is quite big and has seating on the second floor and the counters on the first. It is located right next to The Yellow Chilli by Sanjeev Kapoor which is a big enough establishment to be found easily. Coming to the food -
KFC's Chicken Snacker outscores McDonalds' lightweight burger McChicken any day. The major plus point being that each Chicken Snacker is a burger bun wrapped with boneless chicken strip and lots of cheese as compared to the McChicken's chicken patty which is often too malnourished to even be called a patty.
KFC’s popcorn chicken which is becoming extremely popular these days comes in two sizes – regular and large. As I was quite apprehensive of what a Chicken Popcorn would taste like, I ordered only a regular one and found out that the coating overlaid on the chicken strips are the only thing we can taste most of the times. While the coating is delicious, the lack of chicken makes it extremely hard for chicken lovers like me to appreciate the dish.
The Chicken Zing Kong Box is the best meal that money can buy. It is worth every penny as we can taste the entirety of the KFC collection just through this meal. There is 1pc Chicken to give you the feel of Colonel's Hot and Crispy variety, a Zinger Burger, Pepsi, Fries and to finish it off a 5-star.
While the boneless strips are a good addition, I'm pretty sad that they chose not to continue their Hot Wings. I personally loved the extra masala that they put on the Fried Chicken Wings which made it chatpata and tangy.
The Chicken Twister is a fried chicken roll with lettuce and enough mayo and cheese to make your hands extremely sticky though your stomach will be extremely full after about two of them. The Twister meals are a good alternative for Zinger meals if one is not very hungry. They don't exactly give you the wholesome experience of KFC varieties which the latter provides but the toasted wrap is an addition which you don't find in the Zinger Meal too. A special note to be made here is that Twister meals shouldn't be ordered for home delivery as they become quite soggy.
The Bucket Meals provide an array of choices when dining at KFC with a large group of people. Be it Fiery Grilled or Hot and Crispy, the Dips Bucket with four different varieties of dips (Salsa, Spicy Mayo, Sweet Chilli and Oriental) is sure to satiate your hunger for fried chicken.
As KFC is not about Fried Chicken only, I tried their drinks and desserts too. While many people prefer the Krushers, I like to go for their Kold Koffee. The Kold Koffee has a blend of coffee and chocolate which I prefer to most of the Krushers. The Chocopeanut Bolt and Chocolash Krushers are often extremely sweet for me to digest while they put too much ice in Virgin Mojito which makes it diluted. According to me, the Green Mango Jelly is the only Krusher which can just about match up to the standards of Kold Koffee owing to its refreshingly new taste.
After every meal at KFC, it has become a ritual for us to try the Kreamball Sundae. While I prefer to go with mango, the chocolate one is a hot-favourite for many too.
P.S. – For those of you who don’t know, they charge packing costs for home-delivery depending on what you want delivered. It is generally close to Rs 50/-
