Anchored securely on the shores of Sinquerim, the waves lapping its side, one cannot but feel like the Caraveleiro's of the days gone by. There is a coffee shop with a difference and it's called Caravela. A walk through the village, under swaying coconut palms, you board the Caravela. Now while most coffee shops are perceived as a place where quick and standard preparations are the needs of the diner, here is menu with a difference - definitely Cosmopolitan. A varied choice of Lebanese, Indian (Goan/North/South), Continental (French/Italian) with a pick of comfort food too. As you leaf through the user-friendly layout. The menu seems to ask: What's your desire siree? Health, Light Bites, Grills - for your health try the Caravela Bruschetta Platter (with dips of tomato confit, olive tapenade and caponata). Want a light bite, try Pau Bhaji and Samosa, just right for the beach ambience. This is a restaurant with a view. In the distance the majestic fort of Aguada stands tall. The Seafood Chowder is a must order especially when you gaze into the azure blue sea. With every conceivable fruit de mer - the fruit of the sea -combine it with some potato sour dough bread. Yuum. From the Grills the North Indian preparation of Tawa Pomfret with yellow chili paste and ajwain, as also a few Goan grilled specialties. The cosmopolitan touch is apparent in the ravioli preparations and the Lobster Tagtaille. A kid's menu with pasta, pizza, khichdi with yummy favourites like waffles and pancakes is sure to keep those youngsters glue to their seats. And with entertainment every night get ready to set sail like those Caraveleiro's of yore as you drift into a pleasurable frame of mind. With this view it is definitely a coffee shop with a difference.

Carevela happens to be one of my favorite cafes in the city because of the joy and tranquility that I feel here. One can feel the water at the feet while enjoying some scrumptious and tasty Cosmopolitan food served hot and quick. The food varies from Pan Indian, Lebanese and Continental. So from Pau Bhaji to Hummus and Bruschetta Platter they have everything that I love eating. Tawa Pomfret and their Khichdi everything has the touch of authenticity and I love Caravela for more than a few reasons.
