Elephants are vegetarian, you feel as you enter the resort where the mammoth creature stands guard at the entrance. Go back to John Godfrey Saxe's version of the famous Indian legend, "The Blind Men and the Elephant". Let's start backward with the sixth man. The Sixth seizing the swinging tail said the elephant is very like a rope! This restaurant has roped in cuisines from Kerala, Gujarat and Rajasthan. The Fifth, who touched the ear, felt that this resembles a fan! The array of preparations on the thali as decided by the chef will be placed in front of you in a colourful display like a fan. The Fourth reached out and felt the elephant is very like a tree! Many vegetables are used in the preparations. The Surti Puffs resemble a spring roll stuffed with green peas and has green and tamarind chutney for accompaniments. The Bhindi Masala - no oil to be seen. White Matar Aloo Tamatar Khatta - the fruit of the earth. The Third took the squirming trunk within his hands, and felt it very like a snake. Does one wriggle around in ecstasy? Their Chaas, Indian desserts, are worth a mention. The Second, feeling of the tusk, found it smooth and sharp very like a spear: Not many entrepreneurs would like to have a pure-vegetarian restaurant. But owner Anoop Shah has spearheaded this concept. The First approach'd the Elephant, and happening to fall, felt the elephant is very like a wall! When it comes to pure vegetarian food, this restaurant stands firm like a wall in consistency and quality. And with a menu changing daily, the blind men for once are all in the right.

We stay at Panjim and have tried eating out at various vegetarian restaurants and so we decided to have our dinner at Jalsa the vegetarian restaurant at Resort Rio, In Arpora. I came to know about this through the Times Food Guide which says that This restaurant won the best vegetarian restaurant in Goa.
Me and my family were amazed by the ambience created in this place with low seating on beautiful chairs. The food was served in beautiful thalis with cute little waatis. The fod was served from kamandals in tradational way. The uniform of the staff was also tradational with kurtas and waist coats.
The taste of the food was very much authentic and tradational. Th dal bati churma was fantastic so was the Surti Pattice. Sweets like Lapsi are a rarity in a place like Goa.
I would recommend this place to any one who wish to relish the taste of Authentic Rajasthani or Gujrati Food.
Thanks a lot Resort Rio. Keep it up
