Set in the typical serene village of Nagoa, Presa di Goa is a ten-minute drive from Goa's popular beaches, Baga and Calangute. Just beyond the sandy shores and noise of Goa's beach belt is this house furnished in the Portuguese colonial style where you can take in the opulence of times gone by. Edward J. Speck, originally from Luxemburg owns this hotel. Between the swimming pool and the hotel is the open-air restaurant set amid lush green gardens. Probably the only Turkish restaurant in Goa, the food takes a while to arrive but is impeccable when it does. It serves mezze comprising hummus and pita, fresh barbecued fish, steaks and lamb dishes and homemade yoghurt. Recommended are the vegetarian starters, followed by the Anatolian Beef Stew cooked in red wine sauce and served with a glass of ayran, the Turkish national drink (much like a salty lassi with herbs).
