O Goa is a poolside restaurant in the heart of Panaji in a shack-like structure with elegant chairs and Portuguese flags hanging over the swimming pool. This Goan speciality restaurant in Hotel fidalgo is for those looking for some authentic Goan cuisine, both veg and non-veg, Catholic and Hindu. The menu is limited but has all the classics, and if you're in the mood for combining other cuisines with Goan, you can also order from the other restaurants in Hotel Fidalgo. If you're ordering a la carte, try a rare speciality named Sukke Bangdyache Sambara, which is a traditional Goan curry made with dry mackerels. It is normally made during the monsoons, when there is little fresh fish and on death anniversary functions in Goan families. Also recommended are Sungtachi Balchao, Xacutti and Sorpotel. They offer a good selection of Saraswat Hindu vegetarian dishes here, like Alsande, Goan-style Rajma Masala, made with kidney beans. Sunday Brunch is a good addition. Have a fill of Goa!
