There is a book by the name Earnestly Speaking that showcases the right skill of communication, but here is a restaurant that communicates the right skill of showcasing good family fare. Ernestos! In the by-lanes of Mala Fontainhas is an old Goan house with a small courtyard with outdoor seating and trees growing in abundance. Run by brothers Ernesto and Vasquito Alvares, this pleasant eatery serves a combination of Continental and Goan cuisine. Start with a Bimbli vodka cocktail made from the fruit of the very tree that grows in the garden. They are also well known for their mixes with spirits. And with those mixes try the local favourite Prawns Stuffed in Papad, an innovative preparation -an excellent nibbling as the main course is being prepared. Another hot favourite is the Pork Ribs Bar-be-que. This is with Vasquito's special Jamacian style BBQ sauce. Yummy! He loves experimenting with different preparations to create new dimensions with Goan ingredients. Take the case of the Goan Sausage Lasagna. The spice of the sausage blends superbly with the Italian cuisine in earnest. And the Oriental Prawns with that combination of Oriental sauces is a delight to the taste buds. Ernesto's is also well known for their steaks. The locals love to order the Filet Mignon wrapped with bacon while a few dwell on reliving the flavours of the past with a good portion of the Feijoada served with hot crusty bread. But it is the dessert that will capture your imagination. Sera Dura is a heavenly delight which was wrongly named 'sawdust', because of the powdered biscuit used in the preparation. This dessert is the house speciality. So, earnestly speaking, for simple family fare with an innovative touch try Ernesto's.

It’s more like coming to a friend’s old style home where everything looks familiar yet rare and charming. The vodka infused cocktails are wonderful drinks here and in food dishes Pork Ribs, seafood and steaks are just too good to resist here. This place is one of the places that hold importance for us without us realizing it.

I really don’t know why my friends love visiting Ernesto's. I went there few days back and find it just an ordinary place. The ambiance was average and service was quite slow. I ordered Prawns Stuffed in Papad, the only thing which I found praiseworthy. I also had Pork Ribs Bar-be-que, which was the ordinary one. Overall for me Ernesto's is just an average and ordinary place.
