If one is to analyse the cuisine which will feature the chili as one of its main ingredients, the Indian cuisine wins hands down. But Mirch Masala, the fine dining Indian restaurant at Hotel Fidalgo, has taken the concept of Indian cuisne to a different level. Every occasion is a celebration and the diner imbibes the tradition and spontaneity of rangoli bringing forth a festival of food throughout the year. The décor is innovative, the ambience cosy with the walls adorned with photographs of Indian spices. The Indian aspect percolates throughout — from Indian instrumental music, the designed uniforms and the food; both in presentation and taste. While the bar shakes up some merry mixes as well as some Indian and Imported wines, browse through the colorful menu to make your choice. Start with the Badami Murgh Shorba (Chicken stock flavoured with whole spice enriched with nuts and almonds). Or if vegetarian, perhaps the Bhune Tamatar aur Tulsi ka Shorba. Move on to the deep fried Semolina Crusted Deep Fried Jheenga — Malwani style. Those spiced crustaceans are worth every crispy bite. The tandoor is ready and simmering, so place your order. You are given a choice of the lal (red) mirch or the hara (green) masala. Seems ironic that the Mirch Masala identifies with the preparations too. The Masaledar Tawa Fried Surmai, slices of fish marinated with ground spices before being fried, the marination remains long after the preparation has been digested, a treat for the senses. Don't take a panga if lamb chops are your choice. The Adrak ke Panje is grilled to perfection in the pan. You might go ga-je, its what follows after it emerges from the pan. If you pan through the menu you will find a variety for vegetarians too — Kaliiri Mushroom, Hare Paneer aur Matar ke Nazuk Kofte, Paneer Makhani to name a few. The desserts too are innovative and exceptional. Zauk e Shahi-mini Gulab Jamun served with rabri or Zaffrani Phirni served chilled with nuts. They read like a mouthful too, their taste will have you asking for more. A place like Mirch Masala hands you an experience you will never forget.

I love Indian food and we were craving to have delicious punjabi food and thank god we found the perfect place to have it. I love chicken and hence i thought of trying pahadi kukkad. It was fantastic and the gravy was just perfect. I would love to visit here again and again esp for "pahadi kukkad.
