Despite the burgeoning presence of five-star restaurants in the city offering similar cuisines, (Italian, Mediterranean, Oriental, American, Indian etc) at fairly competitive prices, F9 manages to retain most of its loyal clientele, probably thanks to a mix of good wining and dining, a well-lit, easy going ambience and its central location. The decor is modern, with wooden floors, and the Portugese painted tiles covering the sides of the bar make for a pleasant visual break. Their Sunday Picnic Brunch (Rs.888 for unlimited mocktails, Rs.999 for unlimited spirits) is a good option. Tuck into the starters, such as the Mezze Vegetarian Platter, with hummus, pita breads, Falafel, Fatayel (smaller samosas, filled with a spinach cottage cheese mix, delicious!) and Baba Ghanoush. There are also kebab and tempura platters with galouti, grilled chicken and fish sharing space with prawn and babycorn tempuras. Then turn your attention to some (made to order) pastas, pizzas, eggs, khow suey etc. In à la carte favourites, Cajun Fish with mango relish is loved by many, and so is the Big Plate Salad. F9 has an impressive array of desserts, so be sure of saving some space in the end for that slice of Tiramisu or even the flourless rum cake!
