At the Balaji Grand Bazaar lane in Basheerbagh, an ill lit passage will take you to Chung Hua, which is a dimly lit restaurant, with its predominant red and black decor. Having mastered the nuances of localization of the Chinese palate and having learnt that big portions are preferred by the hearty eaters of the region, Chung Hua has regulars who swear that this is real Chinese food at its best. Unfortunately, the restaurant is now slipping in terms of both food and service. Still, if you happened to be here, start your meal either with the Man Chow or the Thai Soup. Basket Noodles, Hong Kong Chicken, Barbeque Chicken, Chilli Garlic Chicken, Hakka Chicken, Chicken Pakoda and Chicken Drumsticks are some nice dishes.

Been a fan of Chinese cuisine since I was a toddler - we had a family dinner night every third Sunday of the month and Chinese was a major contributor to the food options over the year.
Chung Hua located at two locations - Basheerbagh and Minister Road has been serving Chinese food for ages now and I have been a frequent visitor to their joint at Minister Road.
Was a birthday of an office colleague and we were in mood for some Chinese comfort food so a long due visit to Chung Hua was a given.
Parking is an issue if you drive a relatively wide car as the restaurant has only space for a single car and we were guided to the nearest spot in the lane adjoining the restaurant.
The ambiance is typical Indo Chinese - but they seem to have a modern accessory added - a flat screen TV which was showing the highlights of the T20 World Cup match of the previous night. The head steward lead us - a group of 4 into a corner table suitably away from the TV.
Then we went through the menu - no changes in ages.
We ordered a mix of Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian soups and starters. The soups were a little bland for our taste but the starters more than made up for it. Would recommend the BBQ Chicken as a starter which is served with a chilli sweet sauce - perfectly compliments the whole dish.
The main course was not too exotic - we stuck to the usual route of noodles and side dishes of Thai Green Vegetable and a Chilli Garlic Chicken and both were sufficiently tasty and very palatable to our tastes.
Desserts were the fried ice cream and the regular ice cream. The fried ice cream was different and we liked the overall mix of the textures.
All in all very satisfied with yet another visit to Chung Hua...
The bill comes in and a very reasonable 1100/- changes hands and we were on our way out to the car !!!
Cheers !

The food quality is very bad, Oily and reheated old food. Please dont think we areFOOL to wash hand in automatic tap and see new painting and give bandi food for me to eat. Soup is like water with no taste, drum stick not cook there was blood in chicken. rice islike sand feeling and chily chicken old reaheated. We complain to waiter and no one change food. They only say kya karein aisaa hi khaana nikaltaa hai - khaana hai to khaao. I become angry and asked to talk to manager there is no one.
Waste of apetite, time and money.
Haiking and Ming court - ohris basheerbagh is much better place, cheaper than chung hwa and good food.
