Aish, inspired by the lifestyle of the Nizams of Hyderabad, is genteel fine-dining, personified. Designed by Tarun Tahiliani, the décor has a monochromatic ivory theme, right from the shade of the walls, to the mother-of-pearl-embedded floral clusters on ivory-hued marble floors. The silver entrance door crafted by artisans from Jodhpur, antique wood ceiling studded with Swarovski crystal lights and vintage silver-framed sepia photographs of the Nizams, add to the plush feel. Aish offers primarily Hyderabadi and a smattering of Andhra cuisine. For starters, try the Aakura (palak, methi and amaranthus) Pakodi, the Paneer-Khajoor ke dhol or the red-hot bay prawns, tossed with black pepper, fennel and curry leaves, a coastal Andhra delicacy. You could sip some Gud Nimbu Ka sherbet, subtle and delicious, or the incense-smoked Oodh ka sherbet. There are rare, on-the-verge-of-extinction Hyderabadi specialities, such as Patte ki Machchi (banana leaf-wrapped silver pomfret, with a spicy fish mince filling, baked with fresh mint and coriander), besides the better-known ones like Shikampuri Kebabs (excellent). There are the usual Andhra faves like Palak Pappu and the whole host of mutton biryanis, Kacchi Gosht, Dum ki Biryani, etc. Other recommended accompaniments include Badami Naan, (sweetish almond filling), Akhrot ki Kulche (walnut filling) and Pyaaz ke Kulche, stuffed with a tangy onion mix. On desserts, mention must be made of Muzzafar, a roasted vermicelli and milk pudding with dry fruits, a rich yet not-too-sweet or greasy finale to any meal. To end, do order the special Irani chais here, the Dhania Chai is a masterpiece, light and fragrant, take our word for it! For those who are price-conscious, there are pocket-friendly thalis as well, which offer you good VFM.

It was our get together and we all wanted to make it memorable. So, together we decide to bump at Aish. I have been there before as well and so I was very sure others will like it too. It was a D day and I was waiting for everyone else to join me. I must say, people loved the décor. Interiors are beautiful. The monochromatic theme, shades of the walls, antique wood ceiling and so many pictures around. Everybody was talking about the décor. Later, we decided to have something good and looking around till now everybody was sure that even food would be great. Our table was full of dishes. We liked their Akhrot ke Kulche, Patte ke Machchi, Palak Pappu, mutton biryani and Dum ki Biryani. It was all yummy and delicious. I enjoyed each bite with so many jokes and chatting. Unforgettable evening and Aish, I just love being here.
