This new entrant in Kolkata's gastronomical map brings with it the cuisines from the basin of the five rivers flowing from the Himalayas. The resulting flavours and aromas are from the undivided Punjab and Kashmir. The interiors are opulent, chandelier from the ceiling and glass facade with a fabulous view of the lit city. With expert Jiggs Kalra as their consultant, the signature dishes are from the empire of Maharaj Ranjit Singh, the true gourmet. Punjab contributes to Tohfa Potohari - the egg-shaped herbed potato, vegetables, dried plum and pine nut kebab, Bhatti de Murgh de Sulley - chicken legs marinated overnight in spiced yoghurt and mugga and Meat Beli Ram; while Kashmir adds the Wazwan delicacies like Gushtaba, Tabak Maas, Rawangan Hedar or mushrooms in tomato gravy et al. Fine dining expectations are tough to match up, specially if the delivery is average.

The Five Rivers has a lavish, elegant and fantastic ambiance. The décor is really very soothing, calm and relaxing. I love visiting this place over and over. Been there few days back and had a lovely time with friends. We had Pine nut kebab, which was very nice to have. Bhatti de Murgh de Sulley is one of my favorite dishes at this place. Gushtaba, Tabak Maas and Rawangan Hedar were nice as well. I find the food quite good and service was friendly too.
