Known for its classic beauty world-wide, 'Ajintha' caves came into the limelight in 19th century. What happens after that when a British officer Robert Gill (Philip Scott Wallace) comes to replicate the world-famous sculptures with the help of a tribal woman Paro (Sonali Kulkarni) is the story of 'Ajintha'.
If anybody could have done justice to the story by famous Marathi author N.D.Mahanor to translate visually on the big-screen, Nitin Desai was the opt choice. Nitin Desai has done complete justice to this magnum opus with beautiful visualization, high value production, delightful music and breath-taking frames..! Due to this, 'Ajintha' has become like a beautiful dream come true on big screen! Each and every frame throughout the movie reminds you that you are watching an international project (Marathi & English). It pleases ones mind that to see a Marathi movie reach such great heights. It makes you feel proud and the credit goes to the director Nitin Desai. Throughout the movie, director has been conscious of the backdrop on which the story takes place. The magnificent sculptures in the backdrop stays with you till the movie ends. The male lead Major Robert Gill (Philip) speaks in English throughout the movie. Love between him and Paro doesn't required word boundaries. Characters like 'Jalaluddin' and 'Vishwambhar Shastri' break the language barrier for the benefit of the audience and takes the story forward. Kaushal Inamdar has given music to this movie. All 10 songs are equally melodious and fit into the story completely. Philip Scott Wallace has shown tremendous control portraying 'Major Robert'. Playing 'Paro' can be the turning point in Sonali Kulkarni's acting career. Originally blessed with fair complexioned Sonali has to adorn tanned look for this movie but that brings out the character much more powerfully. Makarand Deshpande, Avinash Narkar has done their roles satisfactory. Murli Sharma plays 'Villainous Mukhiya' perfectly! Overall, those who love art and things related to love shouldn't miss watching this movie.

A nice period movie with authentic sets and a great feel. The camerawork is good. Acting by lead actors is also good. Direction is slick and screenplay adds to movie's charm. A definite watch.
