Kaksparsh tells you about feelings which are no matter how pure are always labeled as forbidden. The social environment in present 21st century is much free but the effect it caused in pre-independence India was much more serious.
The movie revolved around Hari (Sachin Khedekar), who is planning the wedding of his brother Mahadev, with the help of his close friend Balwant. Mahadev marries a teenaged girl Uma (Ketki Mategaonkar & Priya Bapat), who hasn't even reached puberty yet. Tragedy strikes barely a few months later, as young Mahadev dies the very night they were to finally consummate their wedding. This leads to more complicated love-story between two individuals Hari and Uma who are burdened by the responsibilities bestowed upon them.
The strong point of the movie is the cast - Sachin Khedekar and Priya Bapat who have done their roles commendably. Director Mahesh Manjrekar gets the applause for the strong script and presentation of such a sensitive issue. Every small detail of the movie is taken care of with great patience, starting from the typical Brahmin household in Konkon region to all the accessories the women wore along with the soft lyrics of the songs which takes you into that era!
Ketki Mategaonkar who played young Uma has done justice to her small but significant role. She looks the part complete and with her easy acting she wins audience hearts. Priya Bapat who played 'Older Uma' has more responsibility on her shoulder but she has fulfilled the challenge with her great acting skills. Sachin Khedekar after giving many power-packed performances again amazes you with his characterization of 'Hari'. Girish Joshi's strong script, Ajeet Reddy's cinematography and Ajit-Sameer's music gives you a complete winner with Kaksparsh.

Its a bold movie given the complex nature of the story and the relationship between the lead protagonists. Nicely handled by Mahesh Manjrekar who has shown he is equally adept at making masala movies as well as sensitive movies like this. The cinematography, costumes, locations are all top grade. sachin khedekar as usual excels as the principled "Hari". Both ketaki and Priya have played their part of "uma' to perfection. Particularly striking is the resemblence of ketaki and priya which shows that there was much thought put in the casting as well. ketaki is a natural and priya has done justice to her part. The songs and background score is brilliant reminding us of an era gone by. Truly world class presentation.

This is one of the better views which I have watched in recent past. Everything seems to be picture perfect. The background, the set up of a traditional marathi household, make up , costumes of artist. Everything is bang on target. The acting is above average. I must say the Director has done a beautiful job of handling this ultra sensitive issue without making it vulgur or cheap. Too good a movie, a must watch for all movie buffs. People who do not understand marathi must be given an ption to watch with sub titles.

Wonderful work by everybody! It did remind of Vittirio de Sica's "The Voyage" with Sofia Loren, Richard Burton and an actor who looked a lot like the young Richard Nixon...

Of course, dear Vikram. Though my childhood was in Udupi, I have been in Mumbai/Goa for the past 30 years. Moreover, my mother tongue Konkani is a derivative of sweet Marathi.
