Story: In the big bad city of Mumbai, four people are on a 24-hour mission to survive. Some make it, some don't. Caution: If you thought a drive down Mumbai's over-flooded, potholed roads was a nightmarish experience, sample this. Movie Review: Salman (Kay Kay Menon), son of a one time underworld biggie (Jackie Shroff, in a flash of an appearance), is on a mission to nail the murderer of his parents, even before he's started mourning their sudden death. ACP Chautala (Manu Rishi) is chided by his bully boss and packed off from the capital city to Mumbai's underbelly, to track four Nigerian drug peddlers (referred to as kaale throughout the film). The gold medalist cop, who prides himself on being Haryane-da-sher, cruises his way around Mumbai's gallis with ease, but struggles with Mumbaiyya lingo. Amol Ganguly (Ranvir Shorey) quits his job as a chef in UK and dashes back to Mumbai to his beloved, only to find out that she's ditched him for an ugly millionaire. Distraught, he seeks comfort in his wannabe rockstar friend, dope-head Ajoy Ghosh (Pradhuman Singh), who walks around in boxers with sazaa-e-maut tattoo on his back, chants 'The Bengali will rock', has 'Mother Chucker' sprawled on his walls, scratches his privates (yuck!) and 'Doogle'-searches ways to commit suicide, for his heart-broken Bong buddy. Chandigarh ki chori, Dolly (Neha Bhasin), a struggling starlet is on a mission to dupe Mumbai's rich men to recover some of her losses (money and dignity). They all converge at the shady Hotel Plaza, amidst bullet showers, purposeless blood-baths, and a climax that leaves an after-taste of stale vada pau. Ranvir Shorey, as the loser boyfriend looks the part, but only for a few scenes. He loses steam along the way, and boringly finishes the rest. Much-caked-up Menon, tries hard to force intensity, but fails to evoke any emotion. Amidst all this mayhem, Manu Rishi breathes some life and laughs in this movie. Pradhuman Singh as a pseudo rockstar is exaggeratedly stereotyped, driving us to hair-tearing moments. In her debut film, singer Neha Bhasin, looks desperate to make a mark, but has slim chance. For eons, Mumbai has spurred creativity in filmmakers. Some good, some bad. Some grossly confused. Like this one. Director Rakesh Mehta tells a story which is more cramped with characters than Mumbai's local trains. The dialogues are unmoving and script more disoriented than the city's unbearable traffic. While trying to create a montage of a struggling day in the life of Mumbai, the real story is stuck in some galli of Crawford Market. Watch it at your own risk, but remember, we warned you. Given a choice, we'd like the real city and a drive on Mumbai's roads - it probably has fewer potholes than this story.

The last 15 mins of so is worth the watch, very well done and in classic Tarantino style so it will linger with the viewer. KK and Pradhuman give very good performance. Ranvir was excellent with his expressions and as long as he did not speak with his forced and fake Bengali accent (Konkona - you need to teach him more!).

Sachin was brilliant, but not even close to mumta..what a movie.. My fav part was when they forget that they had left their friend on top of the terrace and go around looking for him everywhere from v.t. Station to vadala ..

All paid people/(actors of this movie) are commenting good things on this movie. I live outside India and without any bias I can say that Ranvir Shorey is one of the worst actors around. He bores you in a good movie and neither can act and shows that he is pseudo-intellectual. He can make a good movie bad. Mr. Shorey hope you get this messsage and quit acting.

completely loved the movie

I was more surprised when people rated movie like Ra-One and Om Shanti Om more than one star. This movie is better than those even though it is very predictable. Loved Manu's performance.

I don't understand how the critics given only 2 stars to Housefull2 despite of very entertaining film.Who are they? I lost faith on them. They write from there point of view or may be some other reason for not giving more stars. But I really love those off stream stars in this film, because they do different kind of movies.Hope this will also be a different movie.

Are people getting paid to come and write good things about this movies? Because this movie blows.

I have not seen the movie yet BUT I dont think any movie starring stalwarts like KK and Ranvir Shorey can be that bad. Cmmon 1 star is way too low. Even housefull 2 where given more stars by your "experts"

1. A tensed Surreal Humorous story , Highly Entertaining..... You can count on Mumbai the city where every man landing here, ends up saying, "Lag Gayi". Mumbai has it's own character and makes human lives fall into it's own daily story. Life Ki Toh Lag Gayi is one such journey of four people tasting a slice of the Mumbai story in a day's time. Salmaan (Kay Kay Menon) is a revenge seeking builder searching for his parents murderers. He divulges into past and present making his search interesting and indulging. His discovering of gun is a scene to watch out for. Amol Ganguly (Ranvir Shorey) easily slips into a bengali babu caught in a honey trap, courtesy Deboshree making his life miserable. Enters Ajoy Ghosh (Pradhuman Singh) and adds a new dimension to all heart broken romantic idiots and makes Amol's life terrible. Amol and Ajoy turn your white blood cells into black with their effortfull suicidal tactics. Dolly Saluja (Neha Bhasin) is a financially broken runaway girl, lured by stardom. Her escapades make her look into the real life in Mumbai making for interesting viewing. Kay Kay Menon is in form and displays controlled aggression. You want more of him, but the screen time doesn't permit so. Ranvir Shorey does well for his Amol, the sequel will make him a dangerous character to vouch for. Pradhuman Singh's Ajoi is a maniac musical dilemma, straight out of Guns and Roses. He is a revelation and relaxation for the young generation with preaching hell ways. Manu Rishi is the surprise package of the lot. With a heavy Delhi lingo and care free attitude, he sleep walks into his character Chautala with tension tension and more tension. Mass is always class with Chautala. Whereas, Neha Bhasin does justice to her punjabi character with ease. Rakesh Mehta, the writer director clearly has heavy influences and inclinations towards underworld subjects. Managing three more layered stories with the same background is quiet a feat. He has tried to maintain a fine balance and has surely come close to the right mix. His dialogues supports the director in him perfectly. Mumbai through his lens is nostalgic. Catch the film for Salmaan's subtleness, Chautala's agression, Ajoy-Amol's unbalanced chemistry and Dolly's edgy life. Discover Mumbai again before you say 'Lag Gayi'. Rating: 5/5
