Pre teens, Sam and Suzy, run away from home, fall in love and decide to eventually settle down in marriage. Back home it's time for some crazy search missions and rescue operations.
The year is 1965. The place is the island of New Penzance where paved roads do not exist. And the lovers in question are two adolescents. still immature. still growing up. And that is what makes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom different.
Though in the earlier years of teen-dom, Sam and Suzy do everything that perhaps a grown up, madly in love, duo would. They talk of sweet nothings. They dream of settling down in no man's land. They read poetry and tales to one another. And bringing life to all this drama -- not for a single moment does all that teen-turned-adult philosophies and ideologies look comic -- are the performance by the leads, Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward. The two bring out the stupidity of teen life ... and the over carefulness of adulthood with ease. In fact, the two make adolescence, growing up and first love seem like cakewalk.
Now, for the fun part. It's out and out situational. Because back home, searching for the two eloped lovers, are a whole lot of people -- Suzy's family, Sam's foster parents (who incidentally are not interested in his whereabouts), the neighbours, the social workers (who think the two need electric shocks to overcome absurdity in behaviour), the Khaki scouts of North America lead by scoutmaster Master Ward (Edward Norton), and of course, the well under-played, island cop, Captain Sharp (Bruce Willis).
Just make sure you follow Wes Anderson pretty well to get the idea bang on.

This movie has some old world charm but the storyline is weaker and direction is directionless. Bruce willis is wasted.

Sam and Suzy are in love. They may only be 12 years old, and they may have only met once, backstage at a church production of a Noah's Ark, but they believe in their love passionately. So does Wes Anderson, who focuses his new film Moonrise Kingdom around Sam and Suzy, their scheme to run away together and the community of kids and adults who band together to find the runaways, all while a hurricane comes bearing down on their fictional New England home of New Penzance Island Amazing melodrama of two kids fells into love and find their own space . THUMBS UP !!

It contains what a real movie should generally. It excels not only in acting but in all other departments like cinematography, dialogs and background score. Bruce plays the part of old cop perfectly. He transcends from the role of a lawmaker to a fatherly figure seamlessly. Edward Nortan shines as a scout trainer. Tilda Swinton seems super smart in the role of super services. The two kids were marvelous and depict the age of adolescent perfectly. All in all a classic piece of cinema which would appeal to every age and category of viewers. I am ready to have to have bare knuckles fight with anyone who doesn't agree with me. :-)

NIce watchable movie, though nothing special about the story. But settings, performance and chemistry of main characters are very good. Barring one or two scenes, it is a good family entertainer, but do you believe it has given censor rating of A. May be because of smoking scene of the kid. It is only 94 mins movie, but still felt it could have been trimmed a bit.

Bruce Willis is amazing, and this one is worth watch. The best thing is that the movie has been kept short enough and not prolonged. This is a kind of movie one will definitely enjoy watching with family on a TV set back home. Nice drama tale this !
