Peter Parker wants to know the whereabouts of his parents... a search that takes him on a dangerous path....
Yes, we know Tobey Maguire no longer plays Spider-Man... and Sam Raimi no longer directs it. So we are not looking for them (or traces of their style) in The Amazing Spider-Man. We are not even making comparisons. But then is it really all that easy to undo the effect of the Spidey potion we have been guzzling since 2002, specially now that we have Andrew Garfield donning the Spidey suit for the first time ever... and Marc Webb directing it? Let's try....
With great power comes great responsibility. Now who could understand this better than director Marc Webb. After all, the onus of re-booting the Spider-Man franchise lay with him. And now that the re-booting (be ready for a whole new series of your favourite super hero to follow soon) is in progress, you really wonder if the new team gives you more bang for the bigger buck. In fact, if the plot is anything to go by, the movie expects all Spider-Man fans to not begin where Peter Parker gets bitten by the deadly spider; go even further and find out why we never got to see his parents ever. And while you do that, there's the usual crime still towering the streets of the Big Apple. But then more than all that, it's the romance between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone that takes this Spider-Man movie to a whole new level of EQ (emotional quotient) stuff. And just in case you're expecting a take-two of the famous upside-down Spider-Man-Kirsten Dunst kiss, rest assured: you're not going to be disappointed. Something different in here, but equally smart.
Talk of different and there is more out there. Gwen Stacey (Emma Stone) is no longer the mute spectator that Mary-Jane was. For Emma, it's all about taking control. If need be she is even ready to give a blow-or-two to the bad guy when Mr Spider-Man can't handle all that mess alone. Next is Rhys Ifans, who as Dr Curt (Jekyll) Connors, ensures that as long as he is on screen, there is enough for Spider-Man to do... and enough for you to savour. Finally, for the man in question: Andrew Garfield. Needless to say, Andrew dexterously slips into Spidey's suit (with a sense of humour), even as he excels in the pulverized, alter ego, Peter Parker.
But then, as Spider-Man, he takes too long to don the Spidey suit. In fact, for most part he is seen settling scores without the Spidey mask... after long, long gaps. Finally, even his web does not come naturally to him. He has to work to get that mechanism in place. Of course, when he does dizzily bungee jump across the Manhattan skyline - specially in the King Kong type climax -- he still sends a thrill down your spine.
A word about Irrfan Khan. While Irrfan says it's not a long role, Marc Webb says it's pivotal. We say: You decide.

Its the same story since the beginning but the actors have changed but yet don't let you move from your seat. A good comeback.

Even if you don't automatically recoil at the words "reboot," "sequel" or "franchise," it's hard not to roll your eyes a little at The Amazing Spider-Man, which revives the cinematic saga of Peter Parker exactly 10 years after Sam Raimi's Spider-Man started telling it the first time around. In the comics they've managed to move on to a whole new Spider-Man with Miles Morales, but onscreen we're back again to Peter and Uncle Ben and Aunt May, to a bite from a genetically modified spider and a villain who's also a family friend. A few of the details have changed, but for the first hour of The Amazing Spider-Man, you'll be forgiven for feeling serious deja vu.

Didn't needed one more spiderman movie and that even without Tobey Mcguire. The movie is a full copy of spiderman 1 with som changes in the evil character. But as usual you would like spiderman flying from building to building, his fights action and all. I think this is a watchable movie and we can spend some money and go to the theater.

Andrew Garfield was good as always. 3D was superb, especially the last scene and the rat scene. one could just feel it in front of his/her eyes. in brief, an excelent movie.

I wondered why they made a reboot and introduced the Amazing series over Ultimate series of Marvel Universe. Story is completely predictable because of previous version - stunts are also predictable. Only new actors doesn't make a new movie and hence not a good one. It lacks surprise and story related freshness.

The Amazing Spider-Man begins with Peter Parker in high school. Though an amateur photographer, Peter's main interest is science - and he bluffs his way into an audience with his deceased father's ex-partner Dr Curt Connors. After impressing Connors with his knowledge of cross- species genetics, Peter enters a classified area and is bitten by a mutated spider. As his powers and secret identity develop, so too does his relationship with Connors prot?g?, and Parker's classmate, Gwen Stacey. But when the desperate Connors attempts to fight his personal weaknesses using the same untested method, he undergoes a more disastrous transformation into "The Lizard", a creature with a twisted view of how best to 'cure' humanity.

Bore film but excellent graphics and stunts could have been better if more work had been done on the story and screen play

Nice for a one time watch but not a all new story from the ground up as I expected! But still watchable and andrew Garfield has made spiderman more adorable!

I like the old one better. This one is more or less a remake with some confused added content. They tried to complicate the 2001 version of spiderman.

Definitely a must watch movie...the 3d effects were good .the effect remained for some time even after the movie closed....hats off to the actors and director.

not so amazing afterall...10 years is too less a time to make a fresh start into exploring spidey yet again...the new actor doesnt match up to the standards and how can one even think of spidey without marie jane...that's the essence of spidey's love angle... the only saving grace are the special effects which look good even in 3D...first half is sluggishly sluggish (couldn't find some other term to define the slowness of the movie) while second half keep gaining momentum and finally explodes with full blast in alst 15 mins

not bad but the 2002 version is better.
