It's been eight years since Batman was last spotted on the streets of Gotham. For him, it's Mission Retirement. But now the city is under threat from terrorist Bane.

Critic's Review

Hey Gothamites! This is your last chance to hoot, whistle, clap, scream... and do everything possible to cheer for your iconic super hero who makes a final appearance in this epic conclusive part of Hollywood's greatest triology of the 21st Century. So what if that hero is turning all grey! So what if we see him falling and failing each time he tries to rise! So what if the movie really makes you wait in order to get a glimpse of Christian Bale do what he does best. For when he puts on that mask, you get your penny's worth. The end result: You end up wanting more!

Now just incase you are expecting the Joker kinda pack of fun (yes, Heath Ledger's Joker still has an edge over this one) here, remember this movie is only and only about Batman. Precisely what we want, right? Of course, there's the new recruit Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway) who, as bundle of spiky fun, is smart, sexy and convincing as the jewel thief dressed as Catwoman. Not to miss out is Tom Hardy, the bad guy whose Bane is an evil mix of brawn, brains and digitized vocals. For the rest, it's over to Batman's holy trinity -- Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and the ever-faithful butler Michael Caine. As for the plot, this is where all the earlier and incomplete links are joined together... till everything falls in place. But hey, remember there's Batman (Christian Bale) too! Never more vulnerable.... never before seen struggling so much -- emotionally and physically -- to make Gotham a crime-free city... never before so charged up!

Now for the action: Unlimited. The background score: Heart thumping. The special effects: Well, the magic of the Batmobile and the batty antics -- flying, and all that -- is still heart-stopping. But it is The End - all that super bang-bang stuff and the surprise! surprise! element that forces you to get back to doing all that you did when this movie began -- hoot, whistle, clap, scream... and do everything possible to cheer! So Just Go and Do (read Watch) it!

Loved the movie but still think Joker was the best. Nice twist to story. Batman seems very human in it.

Whoever is the director of avenger must learn something form Nolan that only "visual effects" does not make a successful movie.

A fitting finale to arguably the greatest superhero trilogy ever! Nolan weaves his magic once again! And the result is a sheer masterpiece! Batman has reached those heights on Nolan's shoulders where no other comic-book hero can possibly ever reach!

The movie fails to deliver both- the action from the previous parts of teh trilogy as well as the deeply interesting character like joker- the end too was quite predictable. One expects much better than Nolan, his own fault, he set standards too high with the dark Knight. A good watch anyways !!

Batman returns to Gotham in The Dark Knight Rises, but don't get too used to him. There are a lot of other moving pieces in this, the capper to Christopher Nolan's run of dark and enormous Batman films, and just as he was in The Dark Knight, Batman is probably not even the 8th most interesting character in his own movie-- at times he's outshone by characters not even listed in the credits. Nolan makes a lot of nods toward the emotional development of his hero, but never quite connects with him, and doesn't do much better with the motives of the film's villains, represented largely by the hulking Bane (Tom Hardy) but, of course, a little more complicated than that. The Dark Knight Rises, like all of his Batman films, unmissable.

Super awesome movie, you will find everything in the movie- emotions, comedy, action, fear..... everything. As expected from the Batman series this brings everything on the single platform. Must watch, even after so many days if you haven't seen the movie download it, buy a DVD and watch.

This is a work of art by Nolan. But unlike TDK, this is for strict Batman vintage fans, especially the ones who followed "Knightfall" series (which includes Batman #500) The only worry being, how is Damien Wayne going to happen if Talia died? And Tom Hardy, I bow down to thee.

This movie will blow you away. Nolan has done it again; this time, better. A brilliant array of cinematic magic to bring an outstanding superhero to the big screen. The Dark Knight Rises is phenomenal and makes other superhero movies look like rubbish. Comparing this movie to previous parts in the franchise - this particular film is of a much greater level. The acting displays are superb and Bane's role is particularly astonishing. Nolan has taken brilliance to a whole new level. A must watch for anyone.

this one of the best movies ever made! I got the privilege to watch it at a special screening before the rest of the world (and have my review at imdb already) just wanted to share this movie is definitely one of the best, and I do say THE best. All the rant about flaws and all are easily arguable, people have a hard time understanding it completely most juts easily dismissing it as a good but flawed movie. I'd say hell no this is the masterpiece. 10/10

SPOILER ALERT! Some questions remain unanswered- Someone gimme answers! 1) Like Batman, why is the Batmobile also weak? In Dark Knight, we see that when the Joker luanches a bazooka, it flies and hits the Tumbler, but Batman is safe. In The Dark Knight Rises, when the Batplane shoots the Batmobile, it disintegrates with one simple shot! 2) Near the end, Marinda stabs Batman. I thought the suit was made of layers of meshing; what happened to the basics of Batman Begins? 3) In the 1st fight, why is Bane hitting him like a punching bag? He holds him quite comfortably in the air like a baby! 4) When Wayne jumps on a ledge and he goes for round 2, he seems to fight Bane like a toy. Now how come it becomes so simple? 5) The silliest mistake! Final Round- Wayne vs. Bane. When Bane tries to kill Batman in the final act, Catwoman appears all of a sudden and kills him like it was child's play. Why? Why it becomes so easy when we reach the end!

First major attraction in the movie Anne Hatheway, she rocks every scene she is in. The cheesy dialogues from the second film are missing. Lags a bit but over all its a watchable movie. Sorry Christopher this is just an average watch.
