Leela's dependable and dinner-only Jamavar is an ole faithful for close to a decade now — consistently great-tasting food served in a contemporary, pleasingly done up space, you just know it won't ever disappoint! Sublimely stimulating Nihari Gosht, Nalli Chaanp, Biryani with Burhani Raita and a perfectly done Ulte Tawe ka Paratha too — Chef Surendra Mohan serves food from all the northern states of India plus further north. Ask for his melt-in-the-mouth Galouti Kebab and the succulent Raan-e-Jamavar. I am not a big fan of Mutton Seekh Kebab, to me the Reshmi Chicken Seekh Kebab seems way better, but the former is quite a hit as well I'm told. Tawa Jhinga or Royal Vepudu, spiced Crab Meat Broth and Nandu Rasam are vibrantly spiced and superbly cooked. Chicken Chettinad and Alleppey Fish Curry are quite good too. Vegetarians should try the Palak ke Hussan, Gucchi Makai Mushroom, Mirch ka Salan and Dal-e-Jamavar. Khubani ka Meetha and Phirni make for a memorable finale. A great destination for special occasions, it is quite the magnet for visiting foreigners too. P.S. A 3-course Set Menu (four starters, four curries and two desserts, costs Rs.3,550 plus taxes). If you enjoy the Hindi music being played here, you can ask to buy the specially compiled four-CD set (Rs.999).
