Get into the Goan spirit. Enjoy the colourful ambience and the Goan fare as much as meeting the equally colourful and affable owner-couple, Suhas and Deepa Awchat. Go to Goa: it resides in Mahim in a colourful Portuguese "bungalow". Officially recognized by the Government of Goa, this 24 year young, pioneering resto-bar, serving Goan and Portuguese cuisines has also been featured in the New York Times and several other international newspapers. Goa Portugesa opens in Andheri. Sudeep Awchat, the 24-year-old son of the colourful, owner-couple, Deepa and Suhas Awchat sets up here. Gone is the thematic cute ambience (which I prefer), and all three restaurants (Diva Maharashtracha, Culture Curry) are housed together in a contemporary building and also have a common composite menu. In both places, there is superb Prawn Curry-Rice and the Portuguese Galinha Cafreal are the highlights. While the Pork Vindaloo is not as good, the Tender Coconut Cashew Nut Sukke dish is outstanding. Who says Goan food is all about Pork Sorpotel and Fish 'n Prawn Curry? There’s more: Balchao, Xacutti, Bombay Duck stuffed with Crab Meat and Stuffed Mussels are all worth trying. Interestingly, it serves shakahari food as well, made in a dedicated kitchen, with more than fifty pure-vegetarian dishes. ”Orgasmic Organs” feature bheja and kaleji. Do ask for the Succulent Roast Turkey, superb Portuguese Serradura dessert. Enjoy the lively Goan music, knock-back drinks from the lively small bar (plenty of imported wines too). P.S Check out the power lunch Rs. 499 and the steamed and grilled dishes being introduced too.

So what does one do if he/she feels like having authentic goan cuisine? Just go to Goa Portuguese. I love the prawn rice here. The chicken is always cooked perfectly, I am still wondering how they get it right all the time. When I visited this place the first time I had to wait for long, so this time I just booked myself a table through online portal urbanrestro and I got 20% off on my food bill too!
