The city's most exceptional South Indian restaurant has found yet another way of ensuring that foodies stay hooked: It has added on and expanded its seafood menu. It wins the Times Food Guide award for ”The Best South Indian Restaurant” year after year. It's my short cut to bliss. From mild to fiery… it's all here. The best of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra and Karnataka distil themselves on our platters. Chef Manu has added on many more unique Andhra dishes, so if you like fiery tasty notes, head here for the Kori Roast and a superb brinjal dish. Muslim Moplah dishes from Kerala add to the magic. Served in an ambience redolent of temples of South India, the food has every detail perfect. Adai and other starters are cooked in front of you as Iyer's trolley glides up to your table and you eat out of silver thalis. My hot favourites still remain Kerala's Meen Moilee and subtle mild Ishtew with fluffy Appams. They offer fiery Andhra dishes, Mangalore's Gassis, Pomfret and fish curries, steamed Kal Dosas, Idiappams and Neer Dosas and more. Much more. Don't miss the home-made podis and pickles, beedas and the Degree Coffee. Check out the Chettinad Chops, Meen Varuval and don't miss the Cauliflower Melagu Peratti, Tomato Pappu and Kai Stew with Appams. Tender-coconut Elaneer Payasam, Badam Halwa and Sorrakai Payasam are outstanding. From the new seafood menu, the whole stuffed with chutney pomfret, Curry-leaf marinated Squid, Spicy Tomato and Kokum Masala Crabs delight. Do remember, it is open only for dinner.rnP.S. It is a temple of haute South Indian cuisine all right! And it's not just the temple-door menu design, and temple bells that make it so.rn

Dakshin has fairly vivid menu and serves a variety of north-indian cuisine. The papads and chutney to start with are amazing. My personal favourite always include meen moilee and appams. The ambience is nice and the service too is very good and efficient.
