As the book goes to press, I pop into the very first Indigo Deli, in Colaba, to find it bustling with regulars, with the comforting, well made, back-to-basic fare and the best wafer-thin pizza in town (ask for the chorizo and scarmoza one). Go to this popular twin-levelled, wooden-floored, informal restaurant serving Fish 'n' Chips, Spaghetti and Meat Ball, burgers-and-dogs kind of fare. All-day-breakfast is also served (Eggs Benedict, Eggs Florentine, Pancakes and more) in this open-all-day delicatessen. Its shelves keep adding more and more foodie goodies here (the latest being compotes and jams to the cooking pots and what nots). I recommend the outstanding super-crisp pizzas, the Tomato Gazpacho Soup, served in a glass rimmed with Lemon Salt and the Pastrami Sandwich. Even though the price points are high for a deli, it's just what the city needed. Rahul and Malini Akerkar's "deli" also offers specials (Lamb Confit Risotto, Salmon 'n' Brie Souffle and more). Generously portioned and above-average desserts and a good selection (though steeply priced) of wines too. Burnt Salmon Burger and Pulled Pork Burger are very popular. P.S. Check out the glass counter which stocks imported cold cuts, cheeses and salads. And the good quality breads, tea cakes and desserts (readily available through the day). Get their home-made ice creams - Dulce du Leche, Superb Hazelnut and Fresh Strawberry for your next party. I only wish they had more space, that the upstairs section wasn't so cramped, and that they'd open for breakfast early instead of 9am!

After a wait of 20 minutes, we were finally ushered to our table. Once seated we immediately dove into the menu, leaving no time to waste. The lasagnes, pizzas and risottos are to die for. Tried a meat & cheese combo platter, simply delicious! Indigo Deli seems to be getting better with time!
