Maya, the Indian restaurant of the Trident (Bandra-Kurla) is no illusion. It is all about a dizzyingly happy culinary journey through India. Most parts of the journey are sublime while others are worth bypassing. But it turns out to be an expensive journey. Here is a ready reference map of our journey... stop by in North India for outstanding kebabs. Superlative quality of meats, spiced with gusto and cooked to perfection, be it the succulent Lamb Chops or the Raan. Bengal's Prawns, made sublime with mustard and honey, come out tops as does the silken creamy Bhappa Chingdi. Do ask for the flavoursome Dal Makhni, but skip Rajasthan (okayish Rajasthani Mirchi Kadhi) and most of South India (not the freshest of fish in the curry). Kathal Kebab (jackfruit kebab), Dahi ke Kebab, Kaju Mattar Makhana, Maharashtrian Chicken Curry, Raan and Tadke Wali Dahi are some of the specialities here. Plenty of options for vegetarians and Jains (spicy sweet Dahi Kebab and Arbi Tuk, Tadka Dahi). Our journey ends with oversweet Mango Shrikhand; okayish flambeed Gulab Jamuns and homemade Kulfi. The contemporary, mirrored, glass-walled and marble-floored, first-floor restaurant (red, gold leaf wall panels, bronze sculptures) lacks soul and gets noisy too. The menu zigzags too much and some regions are there for token purposes. Still, its strengths far outweigh its weaknesses. Please note that Indian Thali's are served daily, but only for lunch (Rs.1,495). Rajasthani Thali (Friday Lunch, Rs.1,495) offers royal delights such as rich Laal Maas, Dal Baati Churma and Gattey ka Saag, amongst many more dishes. Plenty of set menus, ranging from Rs. 1,745, Rs. 2,275 to Rs. 2,775... the perfect path to salvation in this world of ”Maya”.

I can never ever be bored of Indian Cuisine. The food here is scrumptious , every morsel taste like heaven here. Apart from the ambiance the service is equally spot on. But the food is definitely the winner here.
