On Bandra’s Hill Road, right next to Godrej Nature’s Basket is a charming small restaurant with a quaint ”courtyard” (umbrellas, plant trellises, wrought-iron lanterns, etc.) and an adjacent tiny air-conditioned section as well. Here is a pizza parlour that serves pastas, salads, pizzas, hot dogs (Wurstel NY hot dogs) and sandwiches. As the name implies, pizzas baked in an Italian deck oven with a hearth base in an open kitchen, are the stars here. Ray’s Special (with imported pepperoni) and Mediterranean Grilled Vegetable make the rounds here as do the regular Margherita, Mozzarella Tomato Basil, Greek el Greco and the spicy and tangy Fire and Smoke with plenty of veggies and spicy chillies. Smoked Bacon and Onion is one of their hot sellers. Pizzas are steeply priced (Rs. 650 onwards; they say they use imported ingredients), but now also come by the slice (below Rs. 200). Chicken ’n’ Tomato Cream and Fresh Tomato ’n’ Herb are popular pasta picks, while the Mediterranean and Fiesta Salads make for a light, refreshing meal. Whole wheat crusts are available on request and wine on weekends and special occasions.
