Jain residents of Bandra, this one is for you. As this book goes to press, The Urban Kitchen (TUK), a tranquil oasis, opens amidst the crowded cacophony of Linking Road (near the famous Jai Sandwich stall). TUK is Marzy Parakh’s third venture... Petra in Tian, started three years ago, was the first and Volare the second. Its multi-cuisine pure-vegetarian menu (95 per cent of it Jain-friendly) draws from ”home-secrets and recipes around the world”, Marzy informs us, and offers Indian, Italian, Mexican and Lebanese picks at VFM prices. Their cheery menu offers sub-sections like ”It’s Soupy”, ”Let’s Get Started” and ”Drink It Up”. TUK recommends their thin-crust pizza, pasta in mixed sauce, the Zingy Zucchini, Paneer Tikka Biryani, Chhole Bhature, spicy Sicilian Paneer and Hummus Pita. ”Delicious Desserts” include hot Gulab Jamuns served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a chocolicious cake. The 36-seater restaurant features a wooden-beamed ceiling, glossy floor and wooden chairs and tables in air-conditioned comfort away from the hustle and bustle of Linking Road and wi-fi too. Home delivery will soon be available from Bandra through Juhu. P.S. They are planning to start a buffet for lunch and dinner priced at Rs. 550. rn

Congratulations to the guys who run this place .. It's a rebirth of the old & dilapidated Azo huka cafe..& have they turned it upside down or what!! Excellent.. Went last week with a hardcore Jain friend from London & I came out super impressed From the plants at the entrance to the candle holders to the paintings to the crockery to the uniforms, everything has been done meticulously & aesthetically - hats off ! The food can definitely force a non veggie to become a veggie.. The Texan Mexan pizza , the primavera pasta , the 3 cheese garlic bread, beiruti hummus, dumdaar aloo, dal makhanwali .... All were proof of the quality of ingredients & chefs this place has used.. 1000% awesome.. Smiling faces & great music make the dining experience even better.. My friend loved the Jain pasta soo much that she packed 1 out.. 2 thumbs up from me.. Be a happy vegetarian.. Cause it's awesome. :D

Great place..greater food...
Very rare to find a restaurant in bandra which is only veg minus alcohol..
Very good effort by marzy & apurva..the promoters of this place who I met on my last visit
Bombay pao bhaji, tuk biryani , hummus pita , paneer masala & Ferraro shake are one of my favourites at this place
Very homely place, especially love the paintings & fresh Mogra in red glasses !
Service is excellent. Enjoyed watching the t20 finals here. They don't rush you out even when it's crowded. Impressive.
TUKing is most definitely addictive...
