Bandra's 45-year-old Moti Mahal specializes in Mughlai food and is very famous for its kebabs, Butter Chicken and Black Dal. Skip the Chinese at this black-and-white toned, split-level restaurant which also houses a small bar. Dal Bukhara, Murgh Makhanwala and Balti Chicken are the must-try signature dishes. As are Tawa Veg, Veg Bhuna Balls and Kofta Behtereen. Bhuna Gosht and Majouri Kebab coated with cashew nuts are also quite good. I miss their Champan Bal-Bale (lamb chops in a tawa gravy) which is excellent and hope it makes a reappearance (the menu changes every six months). Tawa Chicken Lahori, Sali Boti, Veg Bhuna Balls (vegetable koftas in gravy, medium spicy) simply must be ordered. Ask for their platters: Non-veg Kebab Platter (Chicken Malai Kebab, Chicken Kabuli, Mutton Kakori Kebab) and Veg Kebab Platter (Veg Makhmali Seekh, Veg Moti Seekh, Assorted Veg Platter). Wind up with the Caramel Custard, luscious with pure cream. P.S. The Party Hall on the second floor can accommodate 30-150 people.rn
